3 Simple Exfoliating DIY Body Scrubs

There’s no shortage of clean beauty products lining the shelves of skin care boutiques, health food stores, and even Target.

Which is great news, because the personal care industry is sorta like Jaws: completely ungovernable. Retailers are tossing around terms like “green” and “all natural” without actually providing proof for those claims or selling safe ingredients.

More info on all that, right this way. It’s why we created our free clean beauty guide for ya.

The volume of beauty products to choose from can be a little overwhelming though, eh? I love hot button numbers like blue tansy and argan oil as much as the next gal, but sometimes I just want the simplest possible option. No frills.

It’s why I love 23 Skin, actually. One ingredient and you’ve got a homemade Matcha mask or seaweed scrub on your hands.

And using my seaweed powder in the shower this morning got me thinking: what other DIY skincare could I easily throw together? Well I’m no esthetician but I have Google, and turns out exfoliating body scrub inspo runs a’plenty on the Internet.

Here are a few recipes I’ve been experimenting with.

diy citrus body scrub1. For Dry Skin: Citrus Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil (also used Simply Earth)
  • 3 drops mandarin essential oil (I use Simply Earth: you could sub this for any brand and type of essential oil).

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl

  1. For Glowing Skin: Turmeric Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl

  1. For Relaxing: Lavender Sea Salt Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil
  • 3 drops lavender essential oil (I use Jane Gee)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl

So easy, right? You probably have the ingredients for all of these at home already, plus you could substitute any type of essential oil or carrier oil.
