Great Female Podcasts I’m Digging Right Now

female podcasts

I don’t think it will come as a surprise to you that I’m a bit of a podcast junkie. Fine, understatement. I’m full blown obsessed. You might call me podsessed. Like, to the point where I think the hosts are my friends, and when I listen to them, I’m just casually catching up with my buds (heh).

I think I love podcasts so much because they can make every menial task from doing the dishes to commuting to chopping vegetables not only more enjoyable, but more efficient. I’m really into being efficient. Why would I make more than one trip up the stairs to carry groceries when I could just haul them all up at once? (Perfected my death grip/overexerted finger claw method in a four story Brooklyn walk up.) Tinted moisturizer with SPF? Genius. Separating whites in the wash? Eh. Don’t tell my mom that one though.

The point is wasting time drives me nuts unless it’s intentional. So if I’m going to do something I don’t wanna do, give me something that I can enjoy and/or learn something from in the process. This is where podcasts come in!

I don’t know about you, but I often feel half giddy and half overwhelmed by the amount of podcasts out there. There’s an insane amount of content on seemingly insignificant subjects. Did you know there is a podcast about Vermont? There’s one that just records the chatter of people playing video games. Another one documents the thoughts of two guys who watch the same Zac Effron movie every single week. Just the straight up public, mental unraveling of two grown men over a forbidden romance, I mean come on. I only sound bitter because this is my dream job. One time Dana and I decided we’d start a podcast, mostly to drink a few IPAs and talk about snacks. That’s still in the biz plan by the way, so, something to look forward to.

As for less random podcasts, there are a few that I tend to rotate through. I’ll go ahead and assume that since you’re reading this here blog that you’re interested in wellness, personal development, or some combination of the two. And so I thought I’d share what I’ve been listening to lately, all hosted by women, should you be looking for a few new pods to grace your earbuds.

So I am definitely late to the podcast bandwagon but really want to hop on to make – as you said – those time consuming but have to do tasks more meaningful….But i don’t really know where to start. I know my iphone has an app for podcasts but i’ve tried looking up some recommended ones like Ophra’s super soul convos and didn’t find it there.
Are there other apps or places to look?
Also do i need to download the episode to listen off-line? Will it take up a ton of space up on my phone??
I guess I’m looking for a podcasts 101 post to help me hop in this bandwagon since I am (honestly) a little embarrassed to ask friends.
    Thank you!

I’ve also heard good things about the goal digger podcast if you guys want to check it out yourselves!

Hi Ana! I totally get it. The world of podcasts is overwhelming at first but once you get the hand of it they’re really great! Since you have an iPhone the podcast app is built in (it’s purple and white and looks like a little microphone with circles). Once you open the app you can search or browse using the icons on the bottom, and yes you will need to download episodes if you want to listen offline. It won’t take up a ton of space, but you can always delete the episodes once you’re done listening if you want to make more room. If you subscribe to certain shows, they will download automatically. This is a helpful guide for how to listen: https://www.wired.com/story/podcasts-beginners-guide/ but we’ll definitely keep that podcast 101 post in mind for the future, great idea! I’ve listened to goal digger on and off, Jenna the host is great! Thanks for reading, I hope that helps. Keep me posted!
