Has it been a long week or what? I’m looking forward to a combination of relaxing (aka finally working through Queer Eye Season 2), seeing friends, and catching up on work this weekend. But before that time comes, here’s all the good stuff we’ve been clickin’ on this week.
In health industry news, the FDA has given the green light on the use of CBD oil for the treatment of epilepsy. Hey now! Bout time we wake up from this snooze fest and start recognizing the medicinal powers of CBD. We’ll be keeping a close eye on other developments in this arena. This is a great sign that there’s more to come.
I’ve never listened to Jen Gotch’s (of Ban.do fame) podcast, but thinking I might start considering this post on Girlboss. Of her three tips for overcoming self-doubt, I particularly like #1: identify your self-doubt triggers. “‘We all have emotional triggers. They often bring up feelings of rejection, abandonment, helplessness, and judgment.’ Find out what yours are and how you can best manage them.”
This corn salad with hot honey dressing on Bon Appetit looks like the perfect Fourth of July side dish, and potentially every other gathering you’ve got going down this summer. Then again, maybe I’m just a sucker for anything that calls for Sriracha.
Gotta say, Self Magazine is sort of killin’ it lately with the editorials and I’m here for it. This profile on plus size model and body positivity advocate Tess Holliday is worth a read. A good reminder that beauty standards are bullshit, and most importantly, there is never any need for rude comments on Instagram. I’d like to see more of this stuff in mainstream magazines, as regular content, not just one-offs.
And finally, the science behind happy relationships from TIME. Making and keeping happy and healthy relationships is hard, but turns out there’s one fundamental element that makes a huge difference. Can you guess what it is?
That’s all I’ve got for ya today. Cheers to a great weekend!
